Digital publishing solutions help meet membership needs on a global scale.
The business model for ACM continues to
use ‘electronic’ as the foundation, and in fact,
we’re seeing an increasing amount of revenue
from the electronic side. We are implementing this focus across all journals and most
magazines, with some print remaining for high-profile titles. We tend
to use digital for ‘visible’ titles that contain advertising because digital
editions allow us to link ads and track readership.

“The Association of Computing Machinery is
the world’s largest education and scientific
computing society, so it’s important that we
inform by example.

Communications of the ACM is one title that Texterity handles for us.
This is our flagship publication where we cover emerging technology,
research, engineering, IT news and trends. Understandably it’s important
that we use a high quality digital provider in keeping with the caliber of
our audience. Texterity’s full-service solution meets this need.
My take on association publishing? We’ll continue to see more publica-
tions go direct to digital via databases or subscriptions. It’s a format that
accommodates member preferences and maximizes today’s technology.”

“The American Chemical Society (ACS), like
many associations, is facing challenges
growing international membership, incor-
porating ‘green’ technology solutions into
publications, and responding to changing
member expectations. ACS is focusing on
implementing solutions that generate
revenue and at the same time streamline
distribution to members whose print sub-
scriptions often face delivery challenges.
